APA National APA - Never Stand Alone - United We Lead the Photographic Community

American Photographic Artists present:

The 2nd Annual APA Short Video Contest!

Over $20k in cash and great gear up for grabs!!!

Every entrant wins an album of music tracks and software!

  • Maximum three video submissions per entrant
  • Minimum ONE minute, Maximum FIVE minutes, including credits
  • Must have a Vimeo account, it's free and easy
  • MUST have music rights, respect the rights of other creators
  • APA Members - $20 Entry Fee per video, Non Members - $50 Entry Fee per video.

For years, APA members have been known for telling great stories, one frame at a time. This has worked well for most of us and led to very successful, rewarding careers.  But time and technology have moved on...with the availability of broadband and proliferation of the internet as the prime vehicle for our clients to reach their clients, advertisers now want motion either by itself or in combination with stills as part of their outreach/campaigns.

The contest is open to APA members and non-members alike.  But notice, as a member you save on the entry fees and get all the benefits of being an APA member.

This is your chance to Show Us Your World In Motion. We want you to have fun with this...so there are no conceptual limitations other than your good taste (see below).

Our wonderful sponsors, all motion industry related companies, judge their own categories and will be judging on creativity and the execution of the category.  The decision of the judges shall be final.

Entries will start being accepted for registration and posting on Monday, April 8, 2013 with a final deadline of Sunday, May 26, 2013 EXTENDED TO JUNE 2, 2013 at 5pm PDT.  The contest will use Paypal for registration and payment after which you will be directed to a Vimeo Group to upload your video(s) for approval.

The submission procedures are posted on the APAnational website.  You will find them HERE.  Email questions to: ceo@apanational.com.

* You will need a VIMEO account to submit your video to The 2013 APA Short Video Contest Vimeo Group.  Vimeo is a free service and is found at: http://vimeo.com

Every entrant is a winner because each entrant receives an album of music and software courtesy of Smartsound.

Enter early because the  "Rockin' It Peoples Choice Award" sponsored by Redrock Micro is determined on LIKES and COMMENTS so an early entry will have more exposure online and time to garner votes.

Winners will be announced Tuesday, June 18th and notified by email.  Winners will be posted on the APA National website and announced on the APA social media sites plus industry blogs and some of the sponsors' websites.  A compilation video of the winning entries will be hosted on The APA Short Video Vimeo Group for even more exposure.

The "Best Overall" winning entry will be chosen based on creativity and overall production value by a group of industry professionals...(we'll tell you who after the contest ends).

And yes, the Best Overall winner as well as all winners are eligible to win more than one category. But you must tell us a maximum of 3 categories you want to be judged in.  See SUBMISSION PROCEDURES.

We have set up a Vimeo page for showcasing the entries.  This will also serve as a venue for the "Rockin' It Peoples Choice" award voting...(Most "Likes" and Comments wins).
